Grady Shipes Obituary

Grady Wyman Shipes, age 34, of Baxley passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Grady was born May 8, 1989 in Jeff Davis County and resided in Appling County. He was a graduate of Appling County High School and enjoyed drawing, making models and animated movies. Grady was preceded in death by his granddad, Bobby Shipes, mother, Sheri Lynn Shipes and a cousin, Hope Harmon.

Survivors include his grandmother, Vinnie Shipes of Baxley; uncle, Danny Shipes of Baxley; cousins, Danny “Boogie” Shipes and Kristena Harmon both of Baxley; great aunts & uncles, Marina & Ricky Newton, Bertie & David Shipes, Jean & Al Kersey, Jody & Gina McDonald and James McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Jordan and Rev. Joe Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Spell, Thomas Hardwick, Al Kersey, Samuel Hughes, Jody McDonald and Alberto Marquez and Rex Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jean Lewis, Elesa Varnadore, Norma Nunez-Cortes, Maria Nunez and Maria Cook.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
