David Lee Summerall, Jr., age 98, of Baxley died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his home and birthplace.
Mr. Summerall, born September 5, 1920 to the late David Lee Summerall, Sr. and the late Rebecca Kennedy Summerall, was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon since 1956 and was a Sunday School teacher and served in various other capacities. Mr. Summerall was a veteran of the United State Army having served in World War II and was a member of the Appling County Young Farmers, and was a retired cattleman & farmer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Summerall was preceded in death by his daughter, JoAnn S. Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Nell Bland Summerall of Baxley, Georgia; his son & daughter in law, David & Pat Summerall of Baxley, Georgia; and his daughter, Karen Campbell of Tyrone, Georgia. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Daniels and Rev. Jim Snell officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Active Pallbearers will be Chad Hutchinson, Dave Summerall, Aaron Summerall, Stacy Hutchinson, Scotty Campbell and Terry Hutchinson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church and all friends in attendance.
Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
