Clifton Mincey

Clifton Mincey, age 78, of Baxley, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.

Mr. Mincey was born on November 2, 1944 in Appling County to the late Leroy & Irma Yawn Mincey.  He served his Lord Jesus Christ as a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church and as a deacon, song leader and by fixing or building anything to help his church family or community. Mr. Mincey was the retired superintendent for Bax-Steel Building. His family, church, and community will greatly miss him, his voice, whistle, leadership, and handy skills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Clifton Mincey; brothers, Sylvester Yawn, Robert Mincey, Carlton Mincey, Wendell Mincey, Jimmy Mincey, Richard Mincey; and a sister, Wilda Stone.  

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Marilyn Medders Mincey of Baxley; daughters, Paula (Bill) Williams of Statesboro, Stephanie (Jerry) Johnson, Christy (Jason) Carter both of Baxley and Nan (Del) Akins of Statesboro; son, Eric (Ashley) Mincey of Baxley; brother, Winston (Peggy) Mincey of Baxley. Ten grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at Satilla Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Tommy Davis & Rev. Todd Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Mincey, Bill Williams, Jerry Johnson, Jason Carter, Del Akins and Oliver Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church, past & present employees of Bax-Steel, Howard Turner, Floyd Hunter, Grady Branch, Mickey Morris, Henry Branch and George Crosby.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Swain Funeral Home.
