Dana Leigh Lane Godfrey Baker, age 67, of North Georgia passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 in North Georgia.

On Thursday, January 5, 1956, in Casper, Wyoming a baby girl to be named Dana Leigh Lane was born to the late Lola Vera Olds Lane and Thomas G. Lane. Due to her father’s military career, Dana and her parents lived in various locations across the U.S. She and her father eventually moved to Baxley, Georgia where Dana attended school and later obtained her GED Diploma from Appling County Schools. Dana lived in various locations around South Georgia before returning to Baxley, where she worked at numerous jobs over the years. She relocated to the North Georgia area in the middle of 1990’s where she was living at her time of death. She was phenomenal with her cross-stitch pieces. Dana was preceded in death by her former husband, John Robert “Johnny” Godfrey; plus, several past fur-children, Precious, Maggie, Toi, Sam, Chico, and Gonzo.

Survivors include her friend, Cathy Jean Turner Godfrey of Baxley along with several other friends in North Georgia and Baxley.

A private committal service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
