David Joseph Thompson

David Joseph Thompson, age 71, of Hazlehurst passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, April 24, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Thompson was born September 2, 1951 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Quentin Thompson and the late Lavenia Lee Thompson.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Southside Baptist Church.  Mr. Thompson was a former truck driver for Frazier Oil Company and a retired sheriff’s deputy.

Survivors include his wife Donna Thompson of Hazlehurst; son, Jeremy (Kasey) Thompson of Hazlehurst; mother, Joyce Little; and brother, Leroy Thompson. Two grandchildren, Jeremy (Ella) Thompson Jr. of Sugarhill, and John Thompson of Gainesville; one great grandchild, Mariana Barrios of Sugarhill also survive.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jeffery Spell Officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
