David B. "Davey" Carter

David B. “Davey” Carter, Jr., age 75, of Baxley died Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Appling Healthcare System.

Mr. Carter was born April 27, 1946 in Baxley to the late David Benjamin Carter, Sr. and the late Golda Caroline White Carter.  He was retired from TFW at Fort Stewart. Mr. Carter was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and a farmer, an avid fox hunter, and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scottie Carter, and a great grandson, Andrew Nobilio.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Sue Craven Carter; sons and daughters-in-law, Russ & Shelli Carter and Stacey & Tasha Carter; special aunt, Grace Craven; sisters, Wanda Norwood and Georgia Carter; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Justin McLellan, Rev. Jim Snell, Rev. Justin Gordon, and Rev. Rick Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Russ Carter, Stacey Carter, Nicolas Carter, Grayson Carter, Jake McMillian, Vern Norwood, Kevin Carter, and Bernie Hann.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Yawn, Jerry Fuller, Gary DeLoach, Bobby Parker, Terry Moody, Harry Moody, Bub Moody, Ricky & Amy Carter, Ruby Carter, Jr., Rodney Carter, Russell & JoAnn Beecher, Roger Jones, Bob Oglesby, Rev. Kenny Hutcheson, Mickey Morris, Bill Crosby, Wayne (Jabbo) Hobby, Jimmy Swain, Larry Parlor, and Jeffery Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International (P.O. Box 403  Baxley, GA 31515).

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
