Gene Burden Obituary

Gene Burden, age 78, of Surrency passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.
 
Mr. Burden was born September 3, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Conrad Burden and the late Lena Mae Hack Burden. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired barber with Ranger Joe’s Barber Shop in Hinesville. Mr. Burden was preceded in death by his former wife, Beatrice Burden; son, Kenneth Wayne Burden; brother, Kenneth Burden; and sister, Judy Campbell.
 
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Haddon Burden of Surrency; daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Ralph Morris of Rincon, Kimberlee & Steve Nostro of New City, New York, and Diane Elder of Surrency; son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Janie Burden of St. Augustine, Florida; sisters, Doris Wilkerson of Clarkson, Kentucky and Linda Milliner of Leitchfield, Kentucky; brother & sister-in-law, Carl & Marilynn Burden of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

A Graveside service will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mill Creek Cemetery at Hilliard, Florida.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Orlando Fernando, Comfort Care Hospice, Ranger Joe’s Barber Shop and Donnie Lewis Tire & Brake.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
