Hilda Weaver Black, age 70, died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Mrs. Black was born May 6, 1950 in Appling County to the late P. B. Weaver, Jr. and the late Lillie Thornton Weaver. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class. Mrs. Black was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Weaver, and two grandchildren, Jack Daniel Smith and Tiffany Nicole England.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dale Black of Baxley; daughters, Angela (Rodney) Wilcox of Surrency and Tina (Porkey) Smith of Baxley; a son, Rodney (Sheena) Black of Baxley; a sister, Cynthia (Hoyt) Altman of Baxley; a brother, Cleve (Cheryl) Weaver of Baxley; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Weaver; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Justin McLellan, Rev. John Daughtry, and Rev. Billy Gardener officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Caleb Smith, Tyler Smith, Kayla Smith, Stefan Wilcox, Emily Krauss, Logan Black, Austin woods, and Bridget England.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Sunday School class of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Dr. Sidney Bolch, Pam Barker, Caroline Anderson and staff, Rev. Charles and Faye Carter, and Billie Burkett.
Everyone in attendance is asked to please abide by COVID-19 precautions by wearing a mask and social distancing.
