John David Kersey, Sr.

John David Kersey, age 71, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021.  

Mr. Kersey was born May 11, 1950 in Appling County to the late John Hewey “Dutch” Kersey and the late Isabell Mincey Daggett. He was a retired machine operator for ITT Rayonier.

Survivors include his daughter, Kaitlin Kersey of Baxley; four sons, Jeremy Kersey, Jamie Kersey, Christopher Kersey and John Kersey, Jr. all of Baxley; sisters, Mildred Stone and Betty Jean Weaver both of Baxley; brothers, Roger Dale Evans, Willis Kersey and Jake Kersey all of Baxley. Seven grandchildren also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Jones and Rev. Justin McLellan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Asbury Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be McKenley Hand, Clifton Kersey, Shawn Kersey, Randy Evans, Blake Kersey and Seth Kersey.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
