Kelly Carter Obituary

Kelly Carter, age 65, of Baxley, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Kelly was born August 19, 1958 in Appling County to the late Wadyce Carter and the late Sarah Craven Carter.  He was a member of Baxley Christian Fellowship and was an electrician for Georgia Power.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a rifle expert. In addition to his parents, Kelly was preceded in death by a sister, Jerry Horton.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Carter; daughter, Kim (Mike) Stancil; sons, Caleb (Chelsey) Carter and Jason (April) Carter; sister, Sherrie (Johnny) Beecher; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Daniels and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Brackson Carter, Willard Lightsey, Willie Tillman, David Davis, Greg Harless, Hagan O’Quinn, and Carter Harrison.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.

Remembrances may be made to Baxley Municipal Airport, P.O. Box 290, Baxley, GA 31515.
