Mark Anthony VanKirk

Mark Anthony VanKirk, age 32, died unexpectedly Tuesday August 25, 2020 at his home in Atlanta, GA.

Mark (Tony as he was known by his family) was born July 26, 1988 in Lexington County, SC to Karen Yandle Vickers (husband Chris) of Alma, Ga and Mark Allen VanKirk of Clay County, FL.  He attended Mt. Pleasant High School in Mt. Pleasant, NC.

Mark had a smile that could light up any room and a hug that made you feel safe and truly loved.  He was funny, kind, generous and had a strong faith in God.  Mark loved all sports but nothing more than baseball and the Atlanta Braves.  He also enjoyed hiking Mt. Yonah, golfing, bowling and journaling.  He loved spending time with and planning the future with his girlfriend, Kaitlin Provost.  

Besides his parents, stepfather and girlfriend; Mark is survived by his two children Blakely, 7, and Oliver, 4, both of Southeast GA; siblings, Dale Tadlock (wife Tara) of Greenville, NC; Melissa VanKirk (husband Anthony Traurig) of Barcelona, Spain; Michelle VanKirk and Brittany Hagler (husband Bobby) both of Phenix City, AL; grandparents Roy & Eve Yandle of Indian Trail, NC, Lewis & Linda VanKirk of Palmetto, FL, and Barbara VanKirk of Mobile, AL.  Three nieces and one nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of life was held Saturday August 29, 2020 at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Mint Hill, NC.

Swain Funeral Home honored Mark’s final wishes for cremation.
