Nina Beth (Hunter) Wigley

Nina Beth Wigley, age 80, of Baxley, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her residence under the care of South Georgia Hospice.

Mrs. Wigley was born April 13, 1943 in Appling County to the late Alvin Parker Hunter and the late Willie Mae (McNeal) Hunter. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, was a former Lyons Club Member, and member of the Appling County Chamber of Commerce. She was the 1997 Citizen of the Year recipient. She loved teaching children’s Sunday School and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wigley, and siblings, Betty Dumas, Carroll Hunter, Thomas Hunter, and David Hunter.

Survivors include her daughter, Katie (David) Davis of Baxley; son, Jimmy (Brenda) Wigley of Baxley; sisters, Jean Carter, Nettie O’Quinn, Mary Alice (Rev. Ron) Ross, Ann White, A. P. (Debbie) Hunter all of Baxley and Mac Hunter of Sumter, South Carolina. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Williamson and Rev. Robert Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Davis, George O’Quinn, Mathew Spell, Kim Stone, Michael Beecher, and Floyd Hunter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be former co-workers of Ace Hardware, employees of South Georgia Hospice, and Senior Ladies Adult Sunday School Class of Midway Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8pm, at Swain Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Georgia Hospice or Midway Baptist Church.
