Richard Lee Deen

Richard Lee Deen, age 75, of Baxley passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.

Mr. Deen was born on June 25, 1947 to late Melvin Lee Deen and the late Ida Mae Griffis Deen.  He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He served as a board member for 37 years for the Appling Christian Academy.  Mr. Deen was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Southern Company at Plant Hatch. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Lee Deen, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Johnson Deen of Baxley; son, Lee (Texee) Deen of Baxley; and grandchildren, Samantha (Matthew) Dean, Kailee Deen, Elijah Deen and Ethan Deen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Jerome Granade officiating. Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rev. Stewart Reeves, Darrell Taylor, J. D. Sikes, Richard Rainwater, Neal White and Rev. Ryan Lamb.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Past & Present Board Members & Staff of Appling Christian Academy and all friends in attendance.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
