Sharon Rae Sortwell

Sharon Rae Sortwell, age 76, of Baxley died Monday, August 29, 2022 in Brunswick.

Ms. Sortwell was born on June 10, 1946 in Batesville, Indiana and has resided in Baxley for the past 33 years. She was employed with Altamaha Home Health and was a CNA for 40 years. Ms. Sortwell was preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Edith Sortwell; a son, William J. Vance; and a granddaughter, Angelina De la Mora.

Survivors include her children, James Raye (Maria) Cook, Roger Delbert (Rosario) Cook and Pablena (Matthew) Lord all of Baxley; brothers, David Sortwell of Indiana and Jamie Lewis of Ohio; grandchildren, James R. (Rachael) Cook, Jr., Christopher J. Cook, Norma A. Cook, Jose O. (Gloria) Lara, Olga Gonzalez, Rosario (Julio) Garcia, Maria (Jose) Leon, Edgar Gonzalez and Victor (Carmina) Gonzalez, Ernest R. (Melissa) Andrews, Ja’Nyssa N. Andrews, Ny’Asia T. Andrews, Olivia A. Andrews, Anthony L. Williams, forty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 5:00 pm from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Bro. Devin Brandt officiating.

Interment will follow in Appling Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be James R. Cook, Sr., James R. Cook, Jr., Roger D. Cook, Omar Leon, Ernest R. Andrews and Matthew Lord.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
