Shirley Jean Stone Obituary

Shirley Jean Rea Stone, age 65, of Hazlehurst passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Stone was born May 3, 1958 in Jeff Davis County to the late Clyde David Rea and the late Barbara Ann Sanders Rea. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her grandsons who gave her the will to fight cancer for so long. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Rea Dean, and sister-in-law, Brenda Shumans Rea.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Ronnie Stone; daughter, Jennifer (Carl) McCullar; sister, Michelle Rea (Burtis) Taylor; brothers, Glynn Rea and Clyde Donald (Valarie) Rea; grandsons, Carl Clyde McCullar and Matthew Claude McCullar.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Carter & Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Carl Clyde McCullar, Matthew Claude McCullar, Donald Rea, Landon Carter, Jesse Webb, and Jerry Wooten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Rea Toler and Dalton King.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
