Vernon "Bo" Stone

Vernon L. “Bo” Stone, age 79, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Community Hospice in Vidalia surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Stone was born January 19, 1943 in Baxley to the late Vernon and Jessie Stone.  He was a retired farmer and was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Mr. Stone was also a former teacher and basketball coach at Jeffersonville High School. He enjoyed gospel music and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Steve Stone.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eugenia “Genie” Stone of Baxley; sons & daughter-in-law, Troy & Leigh Stone of Douglasville and Trent Vernon Stone of Denville, NJ; two sisters, Mary O’Berry of Hazlehurst and Linda Stone of Hazlehurst; one brother, G.W. Stone of Tifton, and one aunt, Dorothy Purvis of Hazlehurst. Three grandchildren, Levi, Kate, and Jake also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Benji McReady officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Barry Lewis, Eric Stone, Phillip Jarrell, Wayne Stone, Levi Stone, and Keith Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be all in attendance.
